Today's national day here in Hong Kong which coincidentally coincides with Hari Raya Puasa in S'pore. Woke up early and left rames and huits in the hostel to go to Prince Edward MTR to pick up some pills and creams that my folks passed to me through a friend.
Was walking around the place looking for breakfast and stumbled into a little diner where the menu was not just in chinese, but the one that's not simplified. I managed to make out something that looked like sandwich and eggs in mandarin and ordered. Luckily it came close to what i imagined it to be. I actually wanted to add sausages and ham but i knew better than to attempt to ask in chinese. Read 'on the road' while I ate and sipped at coffee.
Wandering around the area for a while, i saw this complex from a long way out which read 'Boundary Road Sports Complex'. Adventure Beckoned. And i hit a Gold mine in the form of green. They had this huge artificial turf in pristine condition, enough to make my legs twinge and itch. Further to the left I saw a football match underway. Crossed a little intersection and sat on a park bench to envy the fun, the freedom of expression, the thinking game unfolding right in front of me.
But what kept me, honestly, captivated for a good forty five minutes on the bench, was this father playing badminton with his two daughters. It was the older one on one side, the younger and the dad on the other. I dont quite know what it was but it was just the simplicity of 3 worn out badminton rackets, a shuttlecock beaten to the ground, 3 faces with a mixture of smiles amid frustration that was intriguing.
The older sis was celebrating after every point she scored which made the younger one so annoyed that made the dad laugh. Beautiful.
But all emotions and sense of competition was put aside when the shuttlecock got stuck in the tree and they worked together to find stones to throw at it to get it back.
I liked the simple.
